cooking with alan

Hey there,

I am Alan Lee... born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Grew up in Whangarei, New Zealand and moved to Sydney, Australia at around the age of 19 and have been here since.Done a lot in my time so far, travelled a bit, worked at a few difference places and getting involved more in the I.T. community such as user groups.

I currently work in I.T, and from what I can gather - I will be here for a while. I have already done 9 years here - started at a local computer store, rose to my own business and now have settled down to a desk job doing System Administrator tasks in relation to Internet things like ECMS.

I seem to be a master at creating scripts (Dos or Linux) in regards to automating things where I work with web servers, SQL servers and general network things. I come from a Microsoft and Linux background and am comfortable with both systems. I like to use the best tool for the job, so either a Microsoft or Linux solution depending on a bunch of things. I tend to dip my fingers into routing and firewall/network things as they come up too.

I like food. I am trying to do more cooking around home to keep my partner happy. Trying to build good habits in relation to time management and so on.

My future goals - I guess I want to stay where I am working for a while - they are good guys at Elcom Technology. Afterwards, would love to work at an ISP - either on their network things or as a System Administrator doing hosting things at a corporate level.
